Never tried MyBB to be honest. I have always liked Invision Board.

I use MyBB, and I love it. I've ran a IPB, phpBB, and Vbulletin in my time, and while IPB and phpBB have a better and bigger community, I have found MyBB to be the fastest and easiest to use/teach to use around.

I use MyBB & love it. The arcade plugin works great with games from here & they are easily installed, same with the rest of it's features & plugins. I can't wait for version 5.0 to come out, is rumored it will auto update & that would be really sweet

I always like to look at forum software and so I loaded it up and did the initial install. Actually very nice FREE system. Many nice features added in standard. Overall if you want an arcade that works with the majority of games here and other forum based arcades then SMF would be a better choice, but MyBB is easier to manipulate.

  • Pros for MyBB
  • Easy installation of plugins
  • Easy theme installations.
  • Easy administration
  • Similar interface to IPB 2.36
  • Built in theme generator
  • FREE

  • CONS
  • No arcade available for latest version 1.49 (Correction here is one that works with MyBB 1.49 and has tournaments) HERE

No arcade available for latest version 1.49

That's completely a lie

www.beatdj.net/arcade.php

I use arcade system in mybb
the only contra is that the project is quite outdated and Tournaments are not avaiable

Kind of harsh words. I PM'ed a user who sent me a link to a working Arcade for version 1.49 with tournaments and it handles TAR files V32 well.

Last Game Section version: 1.2 RC3.1
Comments on 1.2 RC3.1:
I release RC3.1 as promised, before the exams. This means the tournament join system isn't made jet. This will be introduced in 1.2RC3.2.

Further: When you upgraded, the added tournaments will be deleted, but that shouldn't be a problem, since they weren't usable jet.

P.D Tournaments buttons are there, but the system is not ready yet
if u really have a working version could you send it to me?
thx =)

just set up a test site myself using MYBB and yes it is very user friendly and the arcade is very neat, still prefer SMF but MYBB is a very close second

I know its an old thread, anyway, I am using myBB myself, and the game section plugin is awesome. Other than that, I'd still prefer vB as I've used it for the past 3 years, but I love iPB themes(though never used it), find smf much more complicated than vB, never tried phpBB, as a webmaster whom switched from 3 years experienced of vB to another script, I'd say myBB is the best, as most interface in the admin panel are similar to vBulletin and its user-friendly. So yeah.. Still for premium license go for vB, for open source go for myBB.
