There has recently been an increase in the number of games being submitted for hi-scores with manipulated scores, we are aware what games can be manipulated and how its done and rely on our members NOT exploiting this issue.

In future any member who is detected manipulating scores will not be warned and suspended as currently happens but will be banned from the arcade permanently and all scores they had will be removed

Tezzag I know it would be not wise to post a list or type of games being exploited, but being as almost all games on my site came from here is there anyway you could give a "heads up" on what I should look out for as far as someone exploiting or cheating?

most the games being exploited are V2 games, people tend to get carried away when they cheat and add scores that are not achievable in order to beat someone else

I was wondering about more cheats in the arcade with some of the games I have played recently but then I thought I was just being paranoid or defensive about my score not being the highest ! :O

Glad you are catching it Tezzag.

Good Job ! (y)

actually, there are a lot of different ways games can be cheated...

about the only way to be completely sure is to know the games really well and pay attention to the time stamps when you are able (games that have continues/restarts are hard to prove time cheats on)...usually a player gives themselves away in various ways....

I usually take the time to PM them about certain specifics and if they refuse to reply or give a nonsensical response then they are booted...many games have strategy exploits that can result in some very high scores that will seem odd if you aren't aware of them...my rule is to not use said strategy/exploit if they are honest and answer...

wow i only thought it would be possible to cheat if you made the game and had a way to use the game to your advantage, i didnt think it would be possible any other way.

Cheating is lame anyways. Good for the admins and arcade boss people banning cheats :D kudos to ya's!

It is beyond my comprehension why anyone would cheat on a game site where there is nothing to be gained but an ego stroke. I do, have some input on scores, and how they can range. In my house we have 4 computers. The slowest is a Compaq with an amd64 chip and 256 ram. It is 10 years old. I have a Sony Vaio with a P3-2.66 processor 512 ram, a Dell with a Core Duo 2.80 processor with 3gb ram, and a Gateway with dual quad processors and 4g ram.

For example, if I play "Kill Crazy Frog" on the Compaq, it is like playing in slow motion, and I can score as high as I can sit there. The Sony is much faster, but I can still get a higher score than on the Dell.

My point is, when considering if an individual is cheating or not, it might be helpful to know what kind of computer he is using.

Another point about computer speeds, and ram. If I am playing a game on the compaq that has a one minute timer, it cab take up to six minutes for that one minute game to play, hence, resulting in an unbelievable score. I am not very computer literate, but this is my own experience with the different computers in my house. For obvious reasons, I stay off the Gateway, and sadly the Sony is pretty much retired. The Dell is brand new and is my main computer, so that should tell you something about my scores.

I agree. It blows me away why they cheat. We have a putt putt game in our forum. The highest score you can get is 9. One member got a 32 in it. I banned her from the arcade and she left the forum.
Glad you are catching them!

I don't get the whole cheating in the arcade thing either, maybe it's more than just an ego boost perhaps it's an authority figure problem where they just want to try and pull one over or not follow rules....

As for the comments about slower computers --totally true! When I upgraded from dial-up to high speed my arcade scores went way down in certain games ...still would not trade it for the slow dying hell of dial up :D
